Vigilant Inference Governor

Licensing

Short version: testing is free, running your business on it is not.

What you may do without paying us anything

Evaluate, develop, test, benchmark, research, teach, run in CI Free, no time limit — including inside a company, and on production-grade hardware. We would rather you tested it properly than briefly.
Run it in production on up to 3 devices Free. A pilot cell, a demo robot, a single line does not need a contract.
Read, modify, fork, publish patches Free. It is source-available; the licence restricts use in production, not reading or changing.
Use any version four years after its release Free, under Apache-2.0. Every version converts automatically — the text of that future licence.

What needs a commercial licence

"Production" means the system is doing your organisation's actual work, or your customers' work. A test rig doing the same job under evaluation is not production, even if it is a company test rig on production hardware.

If you are not sure which side of that line you are on: ask us before you deploy. We would rather answer than argue about it afterwards.

What it costs

These are indicative. Volume, term and support level move them; ask for a quote.

Pilot / qualification — 8–12 weeks, one hardware platform, acceptance criteria agreed up front from €25,000 fixed
Qualifying an additional hardware platform from €15,000
Per device, ≤100 / 101–1,000 / >1,000 devices €15 / €10 / €6 per device per month
— as a one-off perpetual licence per device €350 / €240 / €140
OEM product line — unlimited units of one product, one qualified platform from €60,000 / year

Support is included at next-business-day response. Four-hour response is available.

Why a pilot first, and why it is not free

We have measured this on one machine. Your hardware, your models and your load are not that machine, and we would be selling you a number we have not taken. The pilot is where we take it — on your hardware, against criteria you set, with a written result whether or not it flatters us.

If the pilot misses the criteria we agreed, you owe nothing beyond the pilot fee and you keep the measurement report. That report is worth having either way: it tells you what your GPU actually does under your load.

How to think about the per-device price

If the governor lets a robot stay one Jetson tier lower, that is roughly €700–900 of module cost per unit. €15 per month is a small share of that, and you can stop paying it.

If it does not save you a hardware tier and your GPU is not saturated, you should not buy it at all — see when this helps and when it does not in the README. We would rather tell you that now than after an invoice.
